Being a Detroit-area native, it was highly interesting to me to put together the cover for the reprint of June Manning Thomas’ book, Redevelopment and Race: Planning a Finer City in Postwar Detroit.
Provided with the intended cover art, I enjoyed splitting the two images to create the divide Detroit created, both racially and between its potential and its reality.
Redevelopment and Race is part of their Great Lakes Books series. This edition was printed and released by Wayne State University Press in April 2013. Available for purchase on their website.
